I haven't posted in this thread yet but I feel like giving this a go for the sake of comedy. This is what genre pops into my head when I see the names: Sequestered Benediction: Some kind of proggy death metally kinda thing Hold Fast: Punk band, almost certainly Screaming Sunflower Seeds: Prog Rock a la King Crimson? North to Alaska: The BTBAM reference has thrown me, sorry Raynkor Nation: Whatever genre a dyslexic Star Wars fan happens to like? Cauldron of Corpes: Assuming that is supposed to say "corpSes", then I would say another death metal band If I Shout I Shout Within: Post-modern emo-core Tell me how right I was. |

I find that the likelihood of an artist being shitty is increased many times over by the inclusion of a verb in their name.

My Bloody Valentine. In my defense I just kept getting mixed up with Bullet For My Valentine, who suck.

First impression and all that but I always give it a try.
Like Deadbird, saw the album cover on a youtube video and thought ''ah another bmth band''. But damn Deadbird is one of my favorite bands at the moment.

Sequestered Benediction: Technical Death Metal Hold Fast: Something that sounds like The Gaslight Anthem's first album and makes references to sailors in the lyrics Screaming Sunflower Seeds: A psychadelic rock trio North to Alaska: One of those bands that's like indie but with prog elements. Clean guitars, long, winding tapping licks, odd time signatures. Like "This Town Needs Guns". What would you call that genre? Raynkor Nation: A band that tries really hard to be taken seriously, possibly Christian hardcore Cauldron of Corpes: An old school metal band with Sabbath-like riffs but harsh screaming vocals If I Shout I Shout Within: Pop-punk/emo/whatever it's called. Emo is a derogative term these days, but I don't know what else to call it.

I agree with sashki's more than random's. For Cauldron of Corpses, I probably go with something inbetween the two descriptions though, so like death metal with sludge. It would maybe sound something like Acid Witch. As a matter of fact, that actually sounds like it could be an Acid Witch album/song title.

I kid you not, 18 year old me once during lunch break or something in the music room/office place in Lambeth College, Clapham campus, was told by the head of music there, that I should hang out with this drummer (who really cramped young me's style). And himself, and should be in a band called Honky Sausage. I was polite and everything, but in my head, I was like
"No." That was the final deal breaker for me. Last edited by treborillusion : 11-10-2012 at 08:19 PM. |
