That's fine. Anything I can do on a 7 (that utilizes the 7th string) works

Devin is such a cool guy, he signed my Jackson after a Clinic where I went to college, but not only that. He played a pretty chilled accoustic set that night.

Then the next year, he came back and did a proper DTP set and he spotted me and went "Oh boy your beards gotten longer" and we spoke after the show and he remembered who I was.

Amazing guy.

Can anyone recommend string gauges for the 7th and 8th strings when using a set of .12s? I need to get my axe intonated and set up for them as I'm using .10s and absolutely hate it.

Do you guys know of any less wanky 8 string artists who explore outside of le chug? I know a couple of jazz artists but they follow the technical side of things. At the moment I'm writing finger picky things but would like to find people who, say, do solo arrangements or the like.

I always say like at least 60 and 80 for 7th and 8th strings. With 12s I'd say bump it up to like a 65-70 and an 85-90 depending how low you are going and your scale length.

Outside of chugs all I know is Animals as Leaders, Deftones, Shattered Skies, Little Tybee, Rob Scallon (did one or two 8 string songs on his Youtube channel).

And duuuuude Devin is so friggin awesome. I wish I could have seen him when they rolled through NYC. Stupid money

Little Tybee do some good stuff ja. Thing is I like to use the 8 to do something to take advantage of the range but I like to hear how others are using them and it can get a little grim when looking for bands. There's the jazz scene but I gave up on extreme technicality a long time ago write some cool stuff but it'd be nice to find some more inspiration. right now I'm writing Primus meets Clutch and Psyopus

My scale length is 28.5" on the F#, that still fine to use an 85?

I wouldn't go beyond a 68 or a 70 on a 28.5 tbh, I find an 80 works well on a 25.5'', a 74 would be my pick for a 27. 28.5 is.....long.

I'd use an 85 for a low C# on a 30''

Upped my Lace game. 2nd guitar with their pups. Loving them. Super clear and no loss of gain going down to 5k and 3.4 k between the neck and bridge respectively. Also kinda KM-7'd it with the 2 way switch and single volume pot.

I still have a Lace Deathbucker that I still haven't put in the bridge of my AW-7.

If and when I finally do, it will be a one pickup guitar with no tone knob and the volume knob where the old tone knob's home used to be. (Stupid knob is in the way.)

I actually had to take a dremel to the pickup cavities to make these things fit. They are basically perfectly square, as opposed to rounded edges like a regular humbucker. Good luck with that man.

Ah lucky you then. The screws that came with the pickups are incredibly long. I may or may not have accidentally put a hole straight through my guitar... (it's k tho new body in the new year)
