Recommend me a free drum program
The stickied thread is dead so I thought I would ask here. I use reaper but I would prefer a stand alone program capable of exporting both audio and midi and one with customizable kits and samples. Anyone got any suggestions?

Big Mono is the best free drum kit I've come across. Someone has done a Soundfont mapping for it, so you don't need Kontakt.
Drummix Beta is great too. |

If you want standalone your only real option is Hydrogen. If you'll use VSTs then there's Drummix Beta, and KMS Drums.

+1 It's no substitute for a rel drummer but if you just need a simple beat it works fine. It even has controls for swinging the beat and adding a "human" element to the velocity of the hits. |
