In other news, the Royals, especially Yordano Ventura, continue to be obnoxious pricks. Instigating shit left and right. He should be suspended IMO. For a scrawny little guy, he talks way too much shit.

Quickly becoming one of the least likable teams in MLB.

Middle of the week games in April and the weather has been pretty bad recently. Guarantee it'll be packed this weekend as it was last weekend. They're also 4th in the NL in attendance this year.

Huh. I just saw a video on MLB.com and it looked emptier than any other stadium I've seen so far this year.

Weekday games early in the season are like that. Weather has been in the 50s to low 60s the last two weeks (and that's just going by average temps, so night games were probably colder) and we got rain for three days early this week.

Anyway, Subway Series starts tonight! deGrom vs. Pineda tonight.

EDIT: Teixeira pls.

First off, I wasn't a fan of the Colon signing when it first happened. The Mets had all this young pitching waiting in the wings and they went ahead and signed a 40 year old (at the time), seemingly out of shape pitcher coming off an outlier year for 2 years/$20 million?! His FIP and xFIP indicates he pitched better than his ERA shows while putting up 2.8 fWAR last year and this year he's off to a great start. I found a fangraphs article from early 2014 (a few months after Colon signed with the Mets) estimating teams were paying approximately $6 million per win in free agency during the offseason that had just ended. With Colon's 2.8 fWAR on a $9 million salary for 2014 he's already made the deal a success.

Next, the fact that Colon is succeeding with just a well-located fastball should surprise absolutely no one. As the author of that article says, it's one of the "primitive truth[s] of baseball, that command is absolutely the most important part of throwing a baseball." Jamie Moyer and Tom Glavine are proof that you don't have to throw hard to be a good pitcher in the majors, as long as you can locate your pitches, especially your fastball. Honestly young pitchers should be watching Colon closely, everyone wants to throw 95 and learn big 12-6 curveballs (myself included when I played), but really being able to control a 4-seam, 2-seam, and change-up is enough to do well and puts less stress on your arm.

Last, I could watch that gif of his 2-seamer for hours, what a gorgeous pitch.

EDIT: Win streak is over deGrom didn't throw well and Pineda did, simple as that. I didn't watch the whole game, but Pineda threw a bunch of sliders early for strikeouts that were just filthy.

Apparently it might turn out to be a little over $6 million. Whatever the final number will be, it's incredible, the Angels are willing to pay close to $70 million over the next three years for Hamilton to play against them.

Also, Juanny Beisbol 2-2 with a triple so far and Plawecki hit a rocket for his first big league HR and RBIs. Hitting CC hard today.

EDIT: Juan 3-3. Eric Campbell hit a HR. Mets up 6-1. Duda hit one out early on, still crushing lefties this year which he has never done. I am happy.
EDIT 2: Juan tags up from 2nd to 3rd on a weak popup down the first base line and scores on the ensuing wild pitch. He's been so much fun to watch this year.

I heard the deal with actually that the Rangers get Hamilton if they pay for the Angel's laundry for a year.
