Wow, no wonder it needed some tubes. The JJs will definitely bring new life to that amp, I hope you do a NAD when you get the tubes and play through it some more!

Yeah, it already sounds awesome. I had to play it low last night and it was fizzy, but even with ten year old tubes it sounds pretty much like you'd expect a tube marshall to sound when I've got the master on 6 or 7. ****ing awesome.

NAD when I have it fully retubed and dialed in and all.

i made a similar mistake putting bad tubes that got confused with new ones/spares.

throw out the dead tubes. or at least wrap them in tape or something.

i am very glad you got this sorted out
