Groove (?) metal + melodic metal song
The first one (School's Sh*t), our drummer wrote the first riff one day at school a few years ago, I decided to steal it recently and re-do the whole song.
Influences include Pantera, Machine Head and Opeth. The second one I wrote entirely myself and is my latest, I went for a more melodic/accessible tune. Oh yeah, the synth drums at the start sound way better than on the tab. Our band now has a 30 minute set . So yeah, I dunno, tell me what you think. ![]() Last edited by postmortemspasm : 01-01-2013 at 05:20 AM. |

School's Shit : 56-63 is actually pretty awesome. 91-110 is freaking epic.
Anandamide : 62-69 is pretty metal. I don't get the end though... Is it supposed to be so abrupt? EDIT : HOLY SHIT the 7-string is tuned TWO WHOLE STEPS DOWN WTF? Not even Periphery do that ![]() Last edited by Jacques-Henri : 01-01-2013 at 07:29 AM. |

I love the school's shit, ****ing groovy...
especially the "change to D" part, crazy! but, the from the songwriting perspective, it's really machine head-ish... but, it's great nonetheless...

Hmm, never thought of the end as being abrupt, but now that you mention it I can hear it... perhaps it needs a change. Quote:
But it fits the song does it not? ![]() |

Drop G isn't particularly out there tuning wise. Periphery tend to stay in Drop G# but they have used a low F# on Ragnarok (7 string) and Ji (8 String).

School's Shit, liked:
"Change key D" section, reminded me of Cynic (minus the heavy part). Bar 56 idea. Bar 105 idea. Last edited by 21Fretter : 01-03-2013 at 02:23 PM. |
