It must not be boring, the speed or groove of the song should change. I'm not talking about a tempo change, but perhaps changes from full-time to half-time and back again.
GNR - Sweet Child of Mine, Paradise City.
Metallica - One,
Black Sabbath - Paranoid,
Ozzy Osbourne - Mama I'm Coming Home,
Led Zep - Stairway to Heaven,
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama.
AC/DC - Back in Black, Hells Bells, You Shook Me All Night Long.
I don't know... All a little too obvious???

Can you recommend me some challenging Punk Rock songs with fast down picking, fast palm muting, requiring a lot of stamina. Something like The Misfits - Dig Up Her Bones.

Can people please suggest some good 'thumping' (staunch) doof doof tracks in a similar style to these:
The Crystal Method - High Roller
Justice - Genesis
Will Sparks ft Flea - Chemical Energy
Shrillex- Bangarang
12000 Micrograms - DMT
Turmion Kätilöt - Silmät Sumeat, and U.S.C.H
Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up
etc... (would love enough replies to make a good mix from).
Cheers!

hello

* Your skill level, as in how long you've been playing.

4 years

* The criteria of the song. (For example, what genre? what modal progression? what time signature? so on)

i'm looking for a song that starts with a sad solo , in any key , any genre ,

* Other genres/songs you usually play.
i usually play comfortably numb , sweet home alabama , hotel of california

and i have a band , where i'm the head guitarist , where i write solos and stuff

i would say that i'm 5 to 7 on 10 in music theory , i know keys and stuff

anyhow , thank you

Hi, I'm after a metal/rock shreddy instrumental I can practise my string skipping and sweeping on. Tuning doesn't matter, I can go anywhere from E to B. For an idea of difficulty, I can play these songs pretty much:
Fire And The Fury ~ Firewind
Godfather Solo ~ Slash
Parisienne Walkways ~ Gary Moore

I've looked into stuff like "Little Savage" by Yngwie Malmsteen, but that's too hard for me. I'm currently working on "Emotions" by Galneryus but can't play the sweeping parts, and ideally need a song with some easier sweeping I can work my way up from.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I've been playing rock/metal in the past 5-6 years.
Now i'd like to go a bit on blues/funk,not something too slow or i know i'll get bored quickly.
If possible something that can be played without a base.
For example i like this song a lot, this one too but i don't think i can handle the last one atm.
So i was looking for something blues/funk along those line but not as hard as the second one, possible something that there's a tab available.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I recently got to listen to Royal Blood.
The whole album is sick,if i have to five a title, maybe "Figure it out" and "Ten Tonne Skeleton". There's a bass but it also do as guitar so...yeah,they could be cool to play.

I got a cheap guitar for Christmas and I need a goal song, that I need to learn before I splurge and buy a nice one.

So what song says, I'm still really new at this but I'm making progress? Something I start learning after I can play a couple other songs.

Hotel California, Stairway to Heaven, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Under the Bridge...any of those will take a bit of practice but are not too difficult.

So is this thread still relevant?

If anyone could recommend some artists and songs from styles like motown, funk and RnB that have groovy basslines and overall fun bass parts it'd be much appreciated. I'm not looking for walking bass songs, or slapping, just classic, groovy and funky basslines and bassists. More modern artists and poppier RnB stuff is ok as well, as long as the bass is there.

I've been playing bass for about 6 years and generally play stuff like prog and metal, so I don't expect to run into any problems on the technical front. Just looking for some fun bass jamming.

If it's motown bass you're after pretty much search for James Jamerson

James Jamerson was the bassist for most Motown hits. So if you start with searching out his stuff you'll probably find something along the lines of what you are after.

These suggestinos aren't all motown nor are they James Jamerson (some of them are)but I consider the bass in some of these songs to be pretty groovy...
Superfreak
My Girl
Car Wash
Smooth Criminal
Higher Ground (RHCP)
I Need Your Lovin (not a big fan of the song but that bass is groovy)
I Heard it Through the Grapevine
Chain of Fools
