On a 1960 infinitum can I remove 2 tube to cut the volume? Its way to loud but get better tone when cranked. Master volume on back doesn't really cut it at all.

Yeah that should be alright (your impedances on the back are now double what they normally would be so keep that in mind) but honestly that isn't going to cut much volume at all. I also would be wary of doing that with the Infinium tech, it might kick up a fit if you are doing things out of the ordinary, I can't say for certain though.

With the non infinium yes, but with the new ones I'm not sure. is the MV on the back panel not working for you?

Yes. The master volume isn't cutting it. With it all the way down I still can't turn it past 2.

You can try removing the 2 inner or the 2 outer power tubes. worst case it will not work and you have to put the other 2 back in.

Another thing you might try is putting another volume in the FX loop like one of these

All it is, is another master volume you put in the loop.

Have you tried using an OD to boost the input of the amp? When you do this you can get that beefy cranked tone at much lower volumes.

Yes I have tried using od pedals. It just making it louder. I just ordered the above attenuator you mentioned. Hopefully it works. If not I'll try pulling the outer tubes. Thank you for the ideas.

Yeah, it might work for you.

So my impedance is doubled on back ,would I switch it to 4 ohms for my 8 ohm cabinet now?
