well if you want some good bass lines theres always pop indie like black kids and scissors for lefty but actual music labeled indie-funk, i just dont know

Agreed on GoF, and there's James Chance and the Contortions... which is just funk on LSD.

I'd say indie and soul walk hand in hand more often. See The Jam, Orange Juice.
