sure but if you want to get really heavy that doesn't necessarily work so well. you can roll back from classic rock levels of distortion, but much heavier than that and you're struggling. it does depend on the amp somewhat, though- soldanos (and jet cities, which are basically cheapo chinese-made soldanos) clean up pretty well with the guitar volume control and they're very high gain.

So do you guys think the 20 watt jet city is any good for me?
I understand it has quite a lot of distorion. Does a 20 watt tube sound a lot louder than a 15 watt trans? How is the quality? Because the price is only 300 euro's

there's a higher gain version of the 20, the 22H. it might be a better idea if you need heavy distortion.

i've only tried the 50 (which allegedly has the same preamp as the 22H i mentioned). Its quality is pretty good considering how cheap it is, but you'd know it wasn't a 2000 super amp either, if you know what i mean. But it does have tons of gain and sounds pretty good.

So I have three options here, all of these fit within my budget and should be loud enough. Ik need them to have a nice clean sound ( wich would sound good with reverb and delay pedals and such ) aswell as have a sharp distortion sound.

^ if you're willing to go to those prices i'd just get the traynor. I think it's better than either of those two (arguably objectively so, with the plywood cabinet and better v30 speaker). As I said, though, whether it gets heavy enough is the thing... not that either the valveking nor the lc30 are exactly brootz-approved amps either, lol. EDIT: ahahaha you edited after i posted. When I said the traynor, i meant the ycv50b. I haven't tried the YGL, it may well be worth considering too, but I suspect it's not as modern-sounding as the ycv, but that's only the feeling i get. May well be way off.

I don't why no one said anything about this, but DO NOT cheap out on the amp compared to the guitar. a $2000 guitar through a $200 will sound almost the same as a $200 guitar through that same $200 amp. If you have to put some of the guitar budget towards the amp's budget to get the amp you want then do it. You might find yourself even liking your SG once you've got a good amp.

I am going to buy one of those three amps from my last post ( all about 525 euro's ).
And a fender standard HSS strat ( also 525 ). I think the guitar/amp combination is good and equal in quality. But thanks for the tip JAHellraiser and let me know what you think .

i still say you should consider the ycv50b

in terms of quality i'd say valveking>laney lc30 (i prefer the vc30 but it is more vintage-sounding which probably isn't what you want)> traynor (either the ycv50b or the ygl you listed).

probably. As i said, i haven't tried the ygl, i'm just going by the other traynors i've tried and its specs (which don't tell you everything).

i'd say if you go for either of the traynors that that quality level is easily equal to that fender guitar, yeah, so no worries on that score. thomann is blowing out some of the japanese-made pawn shop models, which i haven't tried, but any MIJs I have tried have had the edge on MIMs. they're also a fair bit cheaper. Probably worth considering, if the specs and looks aren't too quirky for you.

So you think the valveking is the best? Would be nice cause its also the cheapest. It's got the most options to. But maybe you ment that you think its the least good? I do think it looks best, although thats not important . 30 Watt tube amps are A LOT louder than 15 watt transistors right? Because my spider ist loud enough. Thanks!

PS does the valveking have a lot of distortion of really thin?

nope i'm a total idiot who got the greater than and less than symbols backwards

I meant to write this:

in terms of quality i'd say valveking<laney lc30 (i prefer the vc30 but it is more vintage-sounding which probably isn't what you want)< traynor (either the ycv50b or the ygl you listed).

I dunno what i was thinking when i wrote that earlier. Good catch, i'd never have noticed that.

30 watts tube should be pretty loud yeah, certainly through decent, efficient speakers. Whether it's loud enough for you, though,
