I don't have calipers.

Bracing it against a flat plane surface gives 1-5/16" to the fretboard surface from the back of the curve. There's no way it isn't still at least an inch after variance and tape measure error.

just with floyds if you get a weird one (like that one) a good one isn't always a direct swap and if you're not careful you can end up with a white elephant. it's better to just get a good guitar with a known good trem (ideally one of the readily available good trems- OFR, schaller, gotoh) already fitted.

That's pretty much my thought process, keeping me from grabbing it.

Hey Cath! glad to see the band situation is still good.

Dave, the only other info I got from the seller when it was on eBay is that it says JTNAH on it somewhere. Dunno if that's a brand or anything, Google didn't turn up anything. Looking at it closer, the way the saddles vs the two posts are positioned, doesn't look compatible with modern LFRs or OFRs....I don't think.
Blah, an Explorer with a trem would have been awesome. This one seems to be less and less cool the more it's analyzed.

EDIT:
Looks a lot like this trem:

Well tonight is my punk band Teabaggin's first show in over 2 years. Dusted off the old PRS, the 4x12 and the Marshall (it sounds really good) and hopefully it goes good.

Very cool! Pics and/or vids ... so we can compare to the Aussie variety.

John/other builder dudes. Check out the TE Connectivity/ALcoswitch MPG306D. Looks like a sweet alternative to the Taiwan and Alpha 3PDTs. Pricey though. Mouser wants $22/switch. They're really compact though.

EDIT: These 4PDTs look cool too. Plus you can get a splash proof cover.

Yeh they're siiiiick. If I ran one of those Vemuram type companies with $300+ pedals I'd totally put them in.

If I were charging $300 for a pedal I'd put in those sweet black Apems that are sealed/waterproof/rated for a bazillion cycles. Only $90 on Mouser.

Yeah. Take it from someone who originally got a couple of guitars with crappy trems that weren't direct swaps. It's a real pain. I guess if you rarely use the trem it's less of a concern... but then if you rarely use the trem a hardtail probably makes more sense.

yeah. personally i'd err on the side of not bothering.

dunno about the floating thing- i haven't tried that trem but i know with floyds (and similar double-lockers) you can set it up to float or not if it's non-recessed (much like a strat trem). But yeah. That looks like a pretty unique shape. Maybe underneath the routing is similar to an OFR's, but I certainly don't know if it is or not. And if it's not you're in trouble if that trem turns out to be terrible.
