Yeah it's pretty good. The song Forest Crypt is goddamn infectious. Apparently the Ildjarn songs are actually by Nidhogg lol (this is according to an interview). I like it regardless.

I wasn't referring to that; I was saying that Motleymace's stuff was neight Prog nor Black Metal.

What exactly makes you consider this to be "progressive" or "black metal"? Background synths and reverberated clean vocal breaks do not a black metal band make.

Sounds like pretty standard orthodox black metal to me.

Oops, Sorry.

Should've been more kvlt. I'll start calling it something else than.

Thanks for the insight guys.

Also: progbass sorry to embarrass you over the internet, I'm sure I'll see you around at one of the local shows though, I'm sure you won't be embarrassed by all the bands who play in CFL who call themselves black metal, or prog.

(and the Defense)

How I came to this genre description.

Tremelo picking riffs from black metal influences.

linear songwriting from progressive metal influences. (not entirely true for whole catalog)

As someone who doesn't listen to traditional black metal, what is a more solidifying motif to be classified as black metal?

Tremolo picking does not equal black metal. We might as well call Explosions in the Sky black metal if they start adding harsh vocals, but you're probably thinking that the tremolo patterns you are picking are influenced by BM right? I don't hear it, sorry.

Secondly, this is not the promote your band forum. We tend to be annoyed by people who push their bands on us this forum, but there are a few exceptions of course. This is not an exception. Go promote your band elsewhere, or put a link in your sig. With that being said, from the brief listen I gave your stuff, it was better than what some scene kid posted in the rec thread recently.

Now on to more important matters, what say ye terrible wankers?

Saor is performing a cover of this on their rerelease of Roots in November.

Orthodox BM only seems unnatural when it sounds like rock band-grade Darkthrone. This happens more often than not
