So, about the BMW E46 318Ci my dad inherited...

Remember that it was going to get towed to a BMW dealership near us, so that the manager (who's our neighbour and an old friend of my dad's) could assess its state and give us a quote on the needed repairs/care?

Yeah, some friend he turned out to be.

He got the car in on Tuesday last week (the 9th of December), and on Wednesday over the phone he told us everything looked fine, and that he had to run some more tests.

My dad tried calling him every day since to ask him for the repair quote, and the only thing he received was a couple of sms's in the vein of "I'm busy, I'll call you later".

Yesterday, after multiple calls without success, the guy called my dad back and told him that they couldn't do more tests yet, that they've been waiting for a new battery that had been ordered last week and should arrive today.
Really? A battery for an E46, one of the most common BMWs around, takes a week to order? Bull$hit.

He probably had lots of customers coming in asking for fast service these days, and since he's a friend of my dad he felt comfortable with setting the 318Ci aside for the mechanics to work on it in their spare time.

If I had extra money to burn, I'd take a tow truck to his BMW dealership today and I'd take the car back to leave it at a different BMW dealership.

P.S.: here in Portugal we have an old saying that goes "amigos, amigos, negócios aparte".
It translates to something like "friends, friends, business aside", meaning that you shouldn't have business relationships with friends. I should've listened to it, that saying exists for a reason.
