downstrokes

this might sound really dumb lmao but can someone give like a general overview/guide to downstroke strumming bc whenever i play punk on my acoustic my upper arm gets tried realyl fast and im also preTTy new to playing so it would be really useful if someone could tell me what im actually supposed to do instead of me making it up haha

Sounds like you just need to build up stamina. There's not really a guide to downstrokes. Make sure you stay relaxed and don't wear yourself out too much.

Although this is a thrash metal lesson, the part where he explains the mechanics of downpicking should be useful to you. It starts at 1:52 in the video.

Don't over exaggerate your strumming motion, keep your motion tight and don't move more than you actually have to. Stay relaxed, use as little motion as possible.
