Opinions Anybody?
Hey guys,
I'm about to buy a guitar and iv'e narrowed it down to three guitars: Charvel So-cal (Ferrari red), the Charvel DX-1 and the PRS SE Torero. Basically i'm looking for a guitar that will satisfy my Rock, Metal needs for example: Metallica, Van Halen, Zeppelin, Megadeth, GNR... The main reasons iv'e narrowed it down to these three are because the all have a Floyd Rose, Humbuckers, Suit both metal, rock and clean sounds (and they look good aswell), Nice neck profiles. I would like to hear your thought, all help is greatly appreciated Thanks again, Cheers ![]() Last edited by GV8 : 01-13-2013 at 04:08 PM. |

The bands you listed (Which are awesome!) primarily use passive Pickups, so I would say go for the So Cal

Do you guys know if the So-cal has a floating FR or one that only lowers the tones?

I think it's top-mounted (Not floating) but don't quote me on that.

^+1 it is a flush mount FR not a recessed model.

Floating are a bit harder to set up I believe. If it matters that much, have a Luthier recess it for you.

go for the so-cal, it's MIJ
fwiw those trems are floating, but they're not recessed. That means you can get a semitone, maybe a tone if you're lucky, of up-pull, but you can't get the massive up-pull you can get on recessed floyds.
