Can someone suggest me a good second guitar for thrash?

There must be hundreds of these threads here, but I don't know where else to turn.

Anyway I'm looking for a guitar up to 700$.
Here are my requirements:

Strict requirements:

No single cuts allowed.
Body shape must be metall-y in form (Can't think of a better adjective ) I don't like the body shapes of bc rich like the warlord, bich etc though
24 frets
Transparent black, flat black finish, or a natural finish
Must have a good thrash metal distorted tone (duh)
6 strings

Loose Requirements: (These ones aren't that strict, but it would be nice to have them)

Neck must not be too chunky.
Fixed bridge
No abalone binding or inlays
Rosewood fingerboard
Satin/raw finished neck ( A very small bonus, but it would be nice)

Also thanks for any help.

Go to the ESP website, and check out the LTD guitars. Can usually find these secondhand on eBay for cheap. Specifically the M, MH, EX, and V series of guitars. Should be a number of guitars that fit your requirements.

Jacksons are used a lot in thrash metal. You can find some for fairly cheap.

Consider the following:

http://www.long-mcquade.com/product..._81_-_Black.htm

http://www.long-mcquade.com/product...t_-_Natural.htm

http://www.long-mcquade.com/product...ue_Sunburst.htm

Perhaps an Ibanez RG, Xiphos

Jackson RR, King V, Soloist, Dinky

LTD: M, MH, EX, etc

Epiphone Thunderhorse,

Fender Blacktop Series. Maybe a pickup swap as well.

Where are you located, are you open to buying used? Used TENDS to give you more bang for your buck.

^ Two of three guitars you recommended have floyd rose style bridges, he said he would like fixed. That Ibanez Iron Label RG looks great, there is a model with fixed bridge too, that would be worth considering.

An Ibanez RG or S series might fit the bill for what you need.

Also, even though you prefer the fixed bridge, it's not very hard to block off a Floyd Rose. I've actually done this with my RG by using a block of wood fitted to the space between the bridge and the body.

Yeah, that can be done, I did that on my guitar, but it's easier to have a fixed bridge instead.

Very true. I was just throwing that out there as a reminder that if he finds a guitar that he really, really likes and is balking on buying because of the Floyd, blocking it off is an easy remedy.

Well yeah, I guess he could do that if he needs to. But a guitar with a floyd rose will usually be more expensive than the guitar with a fixed bridge even if they have other specifications completely the same.

The bridge is a loose requirement, so he can always just block it.

Also, theres another version of the Soloist with a string thru body. Also a viable option I think.

Well; let's see. You require the following:

1.) No single cuts allowed.
2.) Body shape must be metall-y in form (Can't think of a better adjective ) I don't like the body shapes of bc rich like the warlord, bich etc though
3.) 24 frets
4.) Transparent black, flat black finish, or a natural finish
5.) Must have a good thrash metal distorted tone (duh)
6.) 6 strings

It sounds to me like you just described half of Schecter's catalog. That might be a good place to start.

Another Aye for Jackson. They're awesome guitars all-round. If you swap the pups, Ibanez are great, but their stock pups are awful.

They have some models which have good pickups, like already mentioned Iron Label series which have EMG. That would be great for metal.

What would anybody have to say about this guitar: Jackson SLSXMG

I just was browsing some online guitar shops when I found that and I really like the look of it.

I also really like the pointy jackson 6 in a line headstocks

Except for that I'm gonna go check if my local guitar shop has the schecter damien platinum 6 one person mentioned , the ibanez iron label series and the ltd series h and mh.

Any other recommendations? The nearest guitar shop is very far away from where I live and would probably take about an hour and a half of driving so I can't waste too much time to go and return over and over.

Thanks for all the help so far

I've wanted a Soloist with a maple top and natural finish since I started playing 12 years ago. Very beautiful guitars.

Also check out...

Epiphone Prophecy series (Les Paul, Explorer, and Superstrat designs)

Dean guitars
