Help needed: Music genres database
I'm working on this new music database site and hoping to make one of the biggest online collections of all music styles. There's still a lot of work to be done, but I'd like to ask you guys for some help and suggestions.
Below is the full list of genres I included so far, it would be awesome if you could let me know what genres you think are missing. Any other suggestions are also very welcome. I won't include a link to the website so the mods don't see this as spam.
Atmospheric Drum and Bass
Death N' Roll
Drum and Bass
Melodic Death Metal
Technical Death Metal
So, what do you think?

Well, to be honest, this is a pretty hard task. I'm no musicologist, but I still feel like this list is extremely lacking. First of all, you have about 20-30 styles of metal (I have no idea how many you really have I'm sorry if I'm exaggerating :p ), but you only have one category for Jazz. You should be aware that Jazz is extremely diverse. Just simplified, there is swing, dixieland, traditional, bigband, bebop, cool, modal, fusion, smooth, acid and many more. You have also forgotten to include Blues in any way (Delta, Chicago, Blues Rock, etc.) or classical (avant-garde, romantic, baroque, viennese-school, etc.). Country is also missing, just as the many styles of traditional music from all around the world. Finally, I don't think this is a task anyone could do perfectly, simply because a lot of music simply cannot be put into definite genres. People have been fighting about what artist belongs into what category for ages and many genres kind of flow into each other. I'd suggest getting the help from someone who studied the history of music. I wish you good luck anyway with this project You can send me a link for the website per pm if you want to
