Yeah I've seen people who get the paint to come off in large chunks. I think it really depends on the guitar, on two different guitars I've done, it comes off in small pieces and is very annoying to scrape off.

If you are careful, the face, back and tummy contour come off as one piece, saves a lot of time instead of trying to get little bits off.

One thing that just struck me was that both guitars I've done have been open grained wood, so that could be why mine came off in bits.

Might depend on the grain filler too, whether or not it stays behind.

Well, I don't think there was a grain filler, the sanding sealer was just thick enough it was both. So that could be why.
