how much should i price guitar lessons?

ok here's the deal. My current high school friend Nick is just starting to play acoustic guitar (btw, im more of a hard rock/metal guy like Alter Bridge and Creed). He got it for christmas, but i know he wants to learn really badly. He is a very close friend to me. We're basically brothers in a way. Ive looked up different prices for guitar lessons, and some are as low as $10 for a halfhour, and some are as high as $90 for an hour(<-- thats outrageous!). Ive been thinking $20 bucks for one day a week, and halfhour to an hour. I dont wanna charge too high since hes a close friend to me. Any suggestions? is $20 bucks good?

doode do it for free or ask him some beers in return. Your best buddy will always be your best buddy, so make him learn for free and maybe one day you will be in a band with him.It will also develop your teaching abilities and if you really want to charge him, I would say 10$ maximum unless your that sort of god and your the next JS or Steve Vai.

free, ive taught a few mates guitar. Its good time to hang out. Plus it gives you more common interests to share. THB it what good mates should do.

Thankfully I had real friends and brothers growing up, we didn't charge each other for favors, we didn't even look at stuff like that as favors, it's just something friends do for each other.

I wouldn't do it for free. $10-$20 a half hour sounds fair if he's a mate. When I teach I charge $25/half hour, but Australia prices may be different to US prices.

I know that for friends (by that I mean close friends, theres maybe 2 or 3 people I'd teach like that) I do free (although when they offer cash, I don't refuse ). for other people I know well, I charge usually $5-$10 and for all else I tend to charge $15-$20.

but I also don't have a degree or any equivalent other than I do play in bands, where most of the other teachers in the area charge about $20 and have degrees in music I don't know your qualifications, so I can't say anything for sure.

Well, if it's just for your close friend and you're not planning on going into teaching professionally, I'd just show him a few things for free and see how it plays out from there.
