My JSX can get classic rock on the crunch channel, metalcore on the Ultra, and the Cleans are better than half decent.

Sweet I think I may just head for a 212 combo...GC has one used for 500$ in 9/10 condition

Yeah, I see them going on GC used for 500-600 all day long, so you'll have plenty of time to think about it if you're not sure. Try to get one with a footswitch, it would be worth an extra $25 or so.

ive been reading about the peavey ultra alot today. and they are just so damn cheap. ive heard alot of good things. i should be getting a new amp in a few weeks. anybody have any experience with the ultra?

Any JSX owners have the hum that occurs on all three channels? Only affected by the master volume and, on mine, the reverb? It's such an awesome amp, but that hum is annoying. I wonder if there's some manufacturing defect that isn't really well known.

recently bought an Ultra 212 (60 watts) and i'm a pretty happy guy. decent clean channel and the ultra channnel has more gain than i need. i like the active eq on the ultra channel as it really gives you some great sonic options. highly recommended.

Hey guys, I have a problem with my XXX head and I think it's better to post it here than making a new thread.

Whenever I try to switch to the clean channel, it never truly switches over. What it always does is cuts out gain from the Crunch channel while remaining on it. Amp is on the ultra channel, only pedal I'm using is an ISP G-string noise gate in front and through the loop. The footswtich is reletively new (Purchased new in September or October 2012). The green light comes on that says the Clean channel is on on the amp, but the light for the Crunch channel remains on.

Gain - 7
Bass - 7
Mid - 4
Treble - 6
Reverb - 5

Ive been playing KSE's new stuff and it sounds pretty good
