I have these headphones and they're great. I use them to check my mixes all of the time. They are "flat response monitors" (though I'll admit they're definitely not perfect), but they're comfortable and a great pair of headphones for recording and mixing in your price range.

Cheers!

You will find pairs of Sony MDR-7506 in almost any studio, radio station, tv station, etc.

They are $100 or less.

I have a pair, I use them to play video games, listen to music, plug in to amplifiers, plug in to my maudio fast track.

They do not need a headphone amplifier to sound good, the drive off of your soundcard will be fine.

The ear pads degrade over time (you can get replacements) and they are sort of delicate and probably wouldn't travel well. Other than that, I have been happy with them.

This.

By far the best headphones for the money, and well beyond.
