Seriously, seriously doubt it.

Yeah, that seemed pretty far fetched. It also said in 2300 we (normal civilians) would be able to use nanotechnology to become invisible (that actually doesn't seem implausible), alter our molecular structure to essentially walk through walls, sprint at lightning speeds, levitate, not need sleep (another that seems possible), hear a whisper from miles away, heal wounds with a touch, etc.. Still these are interesting.

Some of these are very scary, and all of the extinction predictions make me sad.

This. I remain hopeful that there will not be a worldwide depression within the next three years. There probably is some truth to it though, and some of the technology and environmental predictions seem realistic.

I don't know how you can accurately predict what the 23rd century will be like.

I just read this whole thing (I skimmed through a lot of it). I think at least in the first world, all these crises won't be as bad in the mid 21st century as portrayed here, and I think after we get through that the world will come out of it as a better place, both the developed and developing worlds. We have the potential to **** everything up as portrayed in this timeline but I don't think we will, at least not that bad. /optimism

One thing that intrigues me that isn't discussed here is the heat death of the universe. It's discussed but the end of civilisation itself isn't. How would we handle knowing the universe is effectively about to end? There'd be lots of anxiety and people would probably kill themselves. Would the governments and society just keep going until they are killed by giant black holes and the complete lack of energy, or would they one day just stop trying and let everybody die? I've always wondered how everything will just fall apart when we realise we can't control the universe.

If on the off chance that "humanity" survives THAT long, it will have had the technology to transport to other universes long before the heat death.

True. But at that point, what's the point of continuing? That far in the future will be very sad.

Maybe we'll time travel to the beginning of mankind and start over on an endless loop. /thirteen year old 'science/philosophy'.

Well you know how Star Wars is set "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...."

The loop would make that setting a reality.

Yeah this. The end of the universe was really depressing.

I also just read how at the "end of the universe" all the black holes will have "evaporated".

Now, I know astrophysics isn't exactly common knowledge, and I don't claim to know even a fraction of what it entails, but they could've been bothed to do at least some research.
