Totally doable. They aren't terribly expensive on ebay. Will probably own one at one point or another. Apparently they have great cleans.

Certainly. There are 2 up on the bay though. One original and one resissue (which I'd rather have anyway). Like $2100 and $1800 respectively.

None of either over here on the other side of the pond though

Also there is a reason you never see 8 string guys using Soldanos or similar amps. Warm amps+ultra low frequencies=mud no matter how you slice it really. 6L6s just have that tightness you need IMO.

Ah. Well, I have been trying to use amp models other than the 5150 model, and turns out pretty much all the other amp models are flubby as hell for the F# and the B, Recto models included. The SLO model is one of the less flubby ones.

Dual Recto- Fine uptil low B, F# flubby as hell
Triple Recto- Same as above, just more nasal
Mark IV- Enough mids to drown the Titanic, E-e sounds good, very very Dream Theater-y, last two strings sound like a pair of horns. Also flubby.
Randall RG- Can of bees
SLO- Well, you heard it.
Marshall JCM's- Never mind

Beginning to wonder if I should just get a Zoom G3 or a G5, the one I tried sounded a lot tighter and gainier than my RP.

What do you guys say? I'll be able to afford a G3X/G5 if I sell my RP.

This seems to sound good as well.

I've had terrible luck getting low ERG strings to be anything but mud in amp sims. I don't get along with digital.

^same. its awfully tough, but ive got a decent tone through my eleven rack but its taken quite a while of tweaking little by little as I start hearing new things that I want changed. I have new strings on the way which I DESPERATELY need and that helps a lot!

Yeah well if I could afford it I'd buy an Axe Fx and a Road King, but I can't. Zoom G3/G5 is the Max I can manage. I think I'll pull the trigger on one. Feel like a change in equipment, am seriously bored of the RP now. Just a question of G3 or G5.

You don't need thousand dollar tube amps. Get the Zoom you want and then hold onto your money. Someday, an affordable used head and cab will come along and you'll be all over it.

Also, yes! Dead strings + digital = nope. My 5150s are a little more forgiving, but it is still missing that metallic bite.

I think I need to finally STFU and save for a Roadster myself... Finally get what I really want. Or maybe a normal Rectifier for the dual cab output. Roadster seems to lack it. EDIT: Roadster will do dual 8 Ohm cabs. Convenient for me.

True. Practicality does beckon.

Btw.

Sounds oh so polished. I really like the sounds this guy is getting off his G3.

EDIT: Wait, that's Zoom's own channel. Nvm.

This is also pretty good. It has that thick chunk in the palm mutes that I can't seem to get off my RP.

Whoa. This sounds damn good. Though it might be masked be the track in the background.

It just sounds more organic than my RP. More rounded, less harsh.

Okay, this one sent my gas well over the limit.
