That would be a great idea. I can't wait for those to ship. I'm hoping since the speaker will be designed for both guitar and bass that the guitar settings will be able to push out a lot more low-end than the current Vypyrs (at least with an eq peddle added). I'm also really hoping they have at least fixed the over-active noise gate if not added an adjustable one (thought that's doubtful since they'd probably have advertised it by now since it was a major complaint of the original Vypyrs). |

I own a Cube 40xl and a Vypyr 100. I would right now trade my Vypyr for a Cube 80xl. The 40 can get pretty loud, but with a single 10" speaker, not really an amp for gigging in more than someones living room. But soundwise? Love the Cube's sound with it's closed back. I have been like a mad scientist with mods on my Vypyr getting it to sound like I want. Too shrill in stock form. |

We'll play gigs with 250-400 people at gyms or auditoriums. Their usually mic'd though, sometimes not though. So it would have to be really loud.

I would think you need at least a Cube 80 then. Or, you could buy my Peavey Vypyr 100

Has to be 250$> How good is the POG/"MOG" on it? The amp would be mic'd at gigs with 250 to 400 people btw.

if that is your budget than I agree with romeo, hold out until you can get a Vypyr 60.
It will blow the Vypyr 30 and the Cube out of the water (never played that actual cube tho I admit). Some like the all SS Vypyrs better, including MatrixClaw, but I think he was referring to strictly metal tone. For the stuff you play - I think a tube powered section will really help your tone and it will cut much better in a live situation. Save up. Find one. Do it.

I personally won't be buying the amp. It'll be a bday present. I don't have a job, too young.

Okay. So now I've pretty much decided on the Vyper 30, I would go with the Tube 60 because it sound amazing. But, it weighs like 50-60 pounds which is waaaaay to much. I'm weak. Considering I would be bringing it to rehearsal every Wednesday and into hockey and basketball arena 3-4 times a week sometimes.
So, it would be mic-up at most gigs, but would it be loud enough mic-up? At basketball games it's not really important for me to be loud because the horns are more important than guitar. Another thing, two effects I really like is the Electro Harmonix POG, and reverb not to much though, like 3/4 of 1/10. How good is the MOG/POG and how good is the reverb?

I recently hooked up the 15'er to a 12" speaker from an old phonograph. Massively improved the tone, more open and articulate. I was getting pretty sick of this amp but this speaker gave it a new life.

It's called a trolley (or a dolly/hand cart/hand truck depending on where you live.) Why are you carrying an amp? There's this new invention called the wheel; you may want to look into it.

Actually, I pick up a 60 lb. dumbell and it didn't way that much, I could probably carry it.

Like Cath said i'd get a board/cart on wheels to help you out, then just carry it up and down stairs etc. if need be. I have the Tube 60 and just suck it up and carry it, it's heavy enough to be a pain in the ass for sure but with a short rest every 20 - 30ft it's still carry-able. I carry it up and down a full flight of stairs, and i'm average strength at best for an adult male. It's also good exercise lol.
But the Vypyr 75 watt solid-state is definitely a lot lighter. But if you want a 40 or 50 watt+ tube combo it's almost certainly going to be heavy. |

Anybody else notice that there are some new tweaked Sanpera I & II pedals on Peavey's website? At first glance the only difference I can see is that the new ones are black in colour.
