Which would be better a Cube 40xl or Peavey Vyper 30? I'll be playing Lynyrd Skynyrd to Stevie Ray Vaughan to Kenny Wayne Shepherd to John Petrucci stuff (Glasgow Kiss, Damage Control, etc. not necessarily Dream Theater though). I'm hoping that I'll be the guitarist of the Jazz Band at my school. Just to be clear the music is not like Pat Metheny, Django Rheinhart, or Wes Montgomery kind of jazz, we play anything from jazz from the 50's to rock like Earth, Wind and Fire, so it doesn't have to be insanely jazz sounding. We also do pep band gigs for college basketball and hockey games, so it has to be somewhat loud-ish, but also quite enough for practice at home.

The 40 can get pretty loud, but with a single 10" speaker, not really an amp for gigging in more than someones living room. But soundwise? Love the Cube's sound with it's closed back.
