A Serious House is pretty good. It also features Dave Mckean art which is super awesome

Psychoblast, short-run cancelled after first story line (9 issues I think) but awesome story line, LSD-inspired powers.

Sandman (Neil Gaiman)

Read the first half of Death in the Family (i.e completed that arc, but I've got the second half of the book to read). It's not really that great to be honest. It's not that it's bad, but it's not good either. Primarily, it's not aged well, but it suffers the writing that comics of that era had. I wouldn't be inclined to read it again let's put it that way. At least the authors notes are interesting, in that they decided to make Tim Drake's Robin more of an individual character who wanted to be Robin and not just a sidekick, so to speak.

I've only just noticed that in the older comics people with black hair have it coloured blue, if that makes any sense. Like, anyone with black hair has it coloured as black with blue highlights. Presuming I'm not just being stupid here and this is in fact not the case, is there any reason for that? It just seems... bizarre

Injustice is absolutely great. The first trade issue is my favourite comic up to now. Everything about it is fantastic - the art, the story, hell even the lovely quality of the HC (I decided against paperback so I wouldn't have to wait so long to read it). It actually made me laugh a few times which really surprised me. I find humour in comics is usually immature and not really that funny, but Green arrow and Nightwing had some really great panels.

show

Honestly, if you've never read it I 100% recommend it. If you do buy it get the HC because it's a really lovely item.

i'm probably a little over halfway through the game, but the stupid wager system pisses me off.

Guys, Daredevil on Netflix is so good. I can't take it. I don't know how I'm going to go to sleep and go to classes.

Had a busy weekend so I've only just managed to get around to watching it. Just watched the first episode and it's really good. I'm glad that it's not, for lack of a better word, marvel-y. By which I mean all of their movies have a similar feel, and I think I'm right on saying they pretty much demand that from any new properties (see Edgar Wright & Antman). Daredevil is way grittier and more akin to the stuff DC has released.

I wish the DC TV properties were on Netflix because I'm still yet to watch any of them bar Gotham (which was pretty crap imo).

Arrow IS on Netflix! I'm sure Flash will be too next season. Unless that's just US Netflix.

I don't think it is in the UK, at least I've never noticed it! The stuff on Netflix is regional, so the US has entirely different shows to the UK.

Would you say the TV series reflects the comic well? I want to finish injustice before I start on something new, but I might pick up a Daredevil graphic novel if it's anything like the TV show.

It's like Marvel's answer to batman

If you go for one of the darker runs, such as obviously Miller's, then yeah, it's one of the most faithful to tone adaptations ever.

It has a great reputation, but I personally didn't care for it. I read something like 15-20 issues, and while I appreciated it's contributions, the art was far too abstract for me and just made it difficult to read and follow. Some might say that a book needing a little more effort to read isn't a reasonable criticism, but I feel like a comic book should be able to tell you its story with the art alone.

Sandman's abstract (and in a way, inconsistent) art is one of my favorite things about it though. i think it's fitting, being about the lord/god/whatever of dreams.

I do think the art looks good, and I understand why it's a big deal. I just find it hard to read a story out of.

Injustice Y1 pt. 2 is good. Not as good as the first part, but still really good. It's funny seeing the roles reversed, with Superman and wonder woman being the 'bad guys'.

show
.

Gotham Central next .
