Blues Lick of the Day

Hi, won't double post again, but apparently this was in the wrong forum

Going to be writing a new blues lick every day to keep me creative! Hope you enjoy this one in G Mixolydian.

Enjoy!

Joe

A Major/Mixolydian! Make sure to try all these in different keys! Visualise them around a chord shape to help you!

Just out of curiosity, why 12/8 instead of just swung 8ths?

Hey, thanks for the interest!

Swung 8ths? Do you mean triplets?

Swung 8ths is quite a different feel to triplets. Most blues is triplets Whereas a lot of jazz is swung 8ths. Playing the 1st and 3rd triplet isn't swing either (or if it is it's bad swing!)

Quick answer to your question, it's a lot easier to write 8ths in 12/8 than triplets in 4/4
