Here is the link to the song -> Make Me Wanna Die - The Pretty Reckless

And sorry in advance, if i posted this in the wrong forum.

It seems to be a mix of violon for the melody (probably synth sound on a keyboard) and an overdriven guitar for the random background noises.

Could be an electric violin. Maybe even a bowed guitar. It does not at all sound like strings get plucked. You could come marginally close be just holding your notes and doing vibrato without ever picking them and adding fuzz or distortion obviously.

First, i don't think so. After a little research on Youtube I just can't agree with you. Second, even if it's an Abba sample, there is an effect on the track, no matter where the melody came from. Third, be polite you piece of shit, I bet your mom teached you better.

Abba sample... pff trolls are getting weaks and boring...

Lay All Your Love On Me by Abba. Use your 1337 googling skills to find it on YouTube and learn how wrong you actually are. The effect is predominantly reverb. Did your mom teached you bad grammar? It's probably played at half speed or altered to be played in a different key.

Ok maybe it's on wikipedia but hey! Wikipedia is not a credible source when it comes to music, anybody can write the **** he want, maybe you wrote that who knows?. I just showed you the tabs and they are clearly not the same. It says it's a rework of Abba but it's the opinion of one listener and not the official statement as I know. So I'm right.

Anyway, the main idea of that thread was to identify the effect, wich i pretty much did since i'm not 100% sure and this was not suppose to find out if that melody was original or a copy. And as a reminder, the tabs are not the same. god damn it

Changing the speed of a sample will change the pitch, bro. Have you got any recording software? If you do, you could try reversing the Abba intro and it will come out as the intro to Make Me Wanna Die.

It has nothing to do with the melody, it has to do with the fact that it is a recording of someone else's work that has been altered. It's not a cover, it's a sample.

But you're not even close to being right about what type of effect would give you a useable sound. An overdriven guitar wouldn't make those background sounds. An ebow on a guitar that has 100 percent wet reverb would.

maybe messing up a Blue cheer song would give me the knowledge about everything? Yes the pitch changed but only a few note are the same, the most part is not even related to Abba.
FYI, ''sample'' means an exact portion, piece, or segment that is representative of a whole. So sample doesnt mean a modified riff, its a precise piece of something bigger, like a quote.
