idiotic alternate picking question

There's one lick that I can play at 162bpm , 16th notes, and there's another that I can't play above 130bpm. both are strict alternate picking, no string skipping involved. If I manage to play the first riff at lets say, 170bpm, is it possible that I will be able to play the second riff faster?

Shallow and pedantic.

Perfect demonstration of why using the metronome as any kind of measure for skill is pointless.

In answer to the question: there's no way we can know this. We have no idea if there's any common ground between the licks at all so how are we supposed to tell if there's any benefit to be had working this way?

If you want to be able to play one or the other faster then practice the one you want to be able to play faster, only practice it better.

Possibly, but like the guy above said its better to practice the lick you are struggling with.
