Here's my first mix through. Sorry people didn't like the midi bass, I didn't prepare multitracks expecting them to be used for a mix off; just for fun/something to do.

I'm not sure I like the kick.

Piano stems have been updated to match Odirunn's lead guitars: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zjv5ay17d...20Piano.wav.bz2

Spent a few minutes getting a ballpark sound. No post EQ or compression done yet.

I like the track, you can do a few interesting things with the sounds.

I almost forgot this was still a thing. Here's my updated mix, with less spiky guitars and better drums: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xogao9e79...rrent%20mix.mp3

Apparently, its dying. The last one was more popular by a long shot. I'll do some writeups on these here probably Wednesday when I'm off and if I find a solid session, we can get the next one running soon. Though, if the next one has a low turnout like this one, it'll probably be the last one.

Maybe a longer entry period might help?

Waaaaaaayyyyy too much limiting. Turn it down so that it is barely catching the loudest parts, hell you can even chain a couple of limiters together if your are gentle. Until then it's kinda hard to hear what is going on.

The biggest thing that's stopped me from entering is the (no offense) generally average quality of the tracks we have to work with. I mean, sure it's a challenge and every now and again polishing a turd can be a good excersise and can really make you think outside the box. Problem is that it just becomes a subpar mixoff when it's like that every single time, you know what I mean?

There's plenty of good stems available (here and here for instance) so why don't we use them? Hell I have stems of some of my Masquerade: #19 stuff which we re-tracked, but the reason I haven't offered it up (and won't be with the tracks I have). User tracks are cool, but we kinda need a certain standard to aim for yeah?

Yeah, I wanted to do user tracks with the first couple since its a familiar quality to what everyone is already working with. I'll probably dig through those sites later and find a new session for May.

In Reaper: Insert > Media File

Then select all the the files and it will import them all and set the tempo off the MIDI.

Ha ha ha hreported.

Why is this thread still stickied, anyway? Sucks that it didn't work out, but it's well past its expiration date by now.
