We also want all the stuff to be serious to a certain extent, and what I mean by that is that as far as lyrics/concepts we're gonna be focused on spiritual/philosophical/cosmic stuff, we want to really focus on communicating stuff and reach for a more grand or profound effect than just 'dope tunes'. Pretty much we want everything to be as timeless and awesome as possible to not have any disposable music or anything that can be deemed 'less significant' than other releases. we may or may not be on a Alejandro Jodorowsky trip where we want to change people's consciousness with our art

but genre wise it will be anything including and not limited to blues, jazz, funk, prog/psych, rock'n'roll, hip-hop, reggae, electronic, ambient, folk, orchestral, there's really no limit. Anything that fits the spirit will be welcome. we'd like to do a lot of experimental things and fusions, as well as having some projects where we stick to a traditional format, like making an old-school sounding blues record or something. but we shall see, the main thing I think will be to let everything happen naturally and the sound of the label will shape itself based on the people involved.
Alright, sounds like a pretty ambitious mission, but as long as you have a clear vision on what will and what won't work for the label I'm sure a certain stylistic coherence should translate to the audience.

Yeah I think it'll all come together naturally, that has been the progression so far and I think it shall go on.

On an unrelated note, I can't get enough of these funky cosmic soviet jams

I don't get how this music seemed completely nonexistent to me when I was a kid in russia, there must be some kind of underground scene from days gone by since I'm finding this stuff

One day I'll have to return to the motherland with a small fortune and scour all the record stores for whatever's left.

That's really cool, I wonder what year that stuff is from. Kind of Return To Forever -esque.

synth sounds are more late 70's or 80's. But yeah it's really cool, I wanna find more. It's funny, the Soviet government restricted the hell out of what you could sing about because they feared the getting a hippie movement but I guess as long as you played instrumental music and told them it's 'jazz' you could get as crazy and far out as you wanted. Makes em think there has to be tons more out there

Well the guys who played on those sound like some seriously skilled musicians, so I'd imagine there must have been a thriving scene where they came up from.

Who has fightcade (free to download & play) and wants to play old fighting games online.

I'm talking Super Turbo. Alpha 3. MVC. X-men VS Street Fighter. Vampire Saviour. 3rd Strike. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure if you're into that thing.

I'd join ya but I've always been shit at fighting games so I pretend not to like them.

on a different note if anyone has absolutely nothing to do here is an improv noise set a friend and I did last week. The guy is a 14 year old drum prodigy who did a serious jazz program for years as a kid and started a record label with one of my friends who is a dj at the local college radio station where they play super weird shit, and so he's been exposed to a lot of experimental stuff in the past year or so. anyways the kid does a noise project where he uses tape loops and a mixer with sounds as well as going Sun Ra on the keyboard, and I joined him on guitar. probably the third time we've jammed together and first time we ever did pure noise but it was fun. i join in around 3:40.

I might get it over the weekend. I suck at fighting games though. My main strategy is to corner my opponent using the same move over and over.

So it comes with all the games? or?

Sure thing homes, I'll pop on IRC around 6:00 mst

Also, this is sounding rad Rometheus. I don't know if the venue suits the tunes though. Shouldn't this be in a shady dingy place that deals cocaine out the back where the cockfights happen, no?

thanks guys. My baby is a mexican strat, all original parts as far as I know. got it used so i dunno much more about it but I love it. and you're right sev but that's part of what made it so funny for me. it's a very normal coffee shop downtown and it was hilarious to imagine some family out for a sunday night stroll walking past and stopping at the window to go "what the hell is going on in there??". Unfortunately the young age of the guy I performed with requires him to play only well-lit, clean places with minimal drug use.

also, we put it up on bandcamp as a live release
https://subruckusdownloads.bandcamp...eads-too-src014
and he made a couple CD's for it.
http://subruckuscollective.storenvy...e-beads-too-cdr

this year is going good so far, January 25th and I now have two physical releases out with my playing on em. hope I can keep this combo going.
