Acrylic Build Questions
I'm thinking of building an acrylic guitar in a strat style and am wondering if anyone has successfully sourced a body blank to do it in Aus (or anywhere really). The closest I've come so far is to buy an entire sheet 50mm thick but about 1m x 2m and it's around $800. Only advantage is it can be cut into the correct size pieces for me so I could resell the other pieces I guess.
Anyone got any hints, tips, suggestions or experience on this type of build would be greatly appreciated. I have already searched the forums with not much luck ![]()

Have you thought about making your own Acrylic blank?
They make a 2 part acrylic mix and you can make a form in what ever size you need then pour it and let it set. It would be alot cheaper than buying an entire sheet.

I recommend that you go to TDPRI (the telecaster forum) and search for Kwerk or Scatter Lee. Both have made acrylic Telecasters. Kwerk did it in layers and while functional, was more of an art piece. Scatter Lee made an acrylic tele body and neck. Both have worked with it, and both may hold the answers you seek.

This, I would make a mold of a telecaster body from some dental algenate, which can be had for $15 for a pound bucket of it, let it set, then pour some acrylic mix into it, then once set it should just pull right out and if not you could cut it out. It should be an easy make actually.
