Thinking of a bass

Im myself generally classical guitar player for 7 years and slo have two electric guitar, one is 6 and one is 7. I do play mostly a few hours a week, with friends or practice. Generally into alt.metal and some of nu. Any recommendations for some bass guitar ?

budget? do you have an amp? i'd imagine a 5er or maybe a drop tuned 4 string would be preferable based on my experience of nu/alt metal

If you are into playing the down-tuned stuff (hence your 7-string guitar), you might be best off with a 5-string bass. Ibanez, Squier, MIM Fenders are all good, inexpensive bets.

Bass are predisposed to seek objects with the long body style of prey fish like minnows or shad. Other anatomical details, such as surface markings or the placement of appendages, likely play a secondary role.
