I have to admit, of all the Primus songs, I find MNiM to be their weakest.
It just doesn't have that funkiness that Primus are known for.

Still, Primus isn't for everyone's tastes.

Same goes for "acoustic guitar" music though, for the most part, especially when referencing a solo artist. It's just fallen into fashion to reference those two styles, at the most general, by those terms.

Most people I know DO use it in reference to the production method and not the actual sound, for what it's worth. Still gives ya an idea of how the music will sound.

Well, my friend usually listen to it, cant remember the names. He constantly said I should listen to it when I let him listen to the crap I write.

I did listen to a song by At the Drive In and one by Fall of Troy.



Well, lyrics are as important as the melody and vice versa. Having fantastic lyrics and terrible/weird melody could ruin the experience and having fantastic melody and terrible lyrics could ruin your experience just as equally.

Personally I find the latter more bearable.



Last Voyage of the Liquid Sky is a ****ing fantastic song.

Give At the Drive In another listen. One Armed Scissor, Invalid Letter Department and Patterns Against User are extremely varied listens from the same album.

Also, watch any video of their performance from Big Day Out 2001. Their live energy is unrivaled.

Considering the fact it is fronted by Cedric and Omar I aint surprised.



Well, Faith No More is a much more collective effort, so Patton's "weirdness" is sorta evened out by the rest of the felluhs.

Fantomas is a collective effort as well although I'd say it has the oddness to it.


Peeping Tom is where it's really at, it has the Patton awesomeness to it yet it is much more listenable than Mr. Bungle per say, start from the song Your Neighborhood Spaceman.

At The Drive In is a great listen for those who aren't sure about post-hardcore music for sure. I'm a fan of the genre myself but I do find it hard to come across bands that aren't generic to the genre or, well, good anymore. Another good band to check out would be Emarosa. Or even Chiodos. But it all depends on your preference at the end of the day.

I dunno, I gave his music a chance before but the only band I sorta liked was FNM

I don't get the whole "random" and "incoherent" aspect of his music, that's all.

I end up splitting 90% of the stuff I hear referred to as "acoustic guitar music" into the following categories:

1) Andy McKee and the legions of clones he's spawned (aka people who rip off John Fahey, but have never heard of American Primitive Guitar) See also" John Butler, half of Candyrat Records

2) People playing ballad-ized pop covers. Boyce Avenue, Youtube guitarists, etc.

3) Singer- songwriters who want to be Joni Mitchell or James Taylor

Andy McKee and other people who mix with the concept and technique of creating so much that it becomes boring and terrible.

All these hipster kids who think it's awesome to make music from a vacuum cleaner, hitting a few glass bottles etc. It's boring and tedious after 1 minute. Put that energy and time into writing music with real instruments. ffs
