Tweeking The Saga MB10 5 String Custom Bass

So for Xmas this year my wife has promised me a Saga MB10 5 String Custom Bass Kit. I've read reviews which compare it to an Ernie Ball Musicman 5 String Stingray. I'm really looking forward to getting it! However, I'm wondering if I would be better off tweeking it with some higher quality after market pickups, and some other minor adjustments! I'm not very well versed in "Tech", any thoughts?

First off, get it. once you get it go from there. If it goes out of tune easy, upgrade your nut and tuners. If it sounds too muddy or bright, then it's time for pickups. As is there is no reaswon for me to believe you should need anything other than stock parts.
