I lol'd at this. It sounds like when people say "I'm not racist, I have a black friend".

I like the SG shape, I just don't like silverburst.

i quite like the sg shape but i'd prefer and esp ltd viper over the classical design as i think the lack of the lower piece of body really destroys it.
still i must be the only person not to like the silverburst finish like crazy. i think its just too flashy. Last edited by wolvenrick : 06-17-2011 at 04:07 AM. |

It would be if people had spent 100s of years oppressing silverburst guitars. How about one of these for size? ![]()

I have always wanted a SG mainly due to being a fan of Angus Young. However I never followed that desire and now I feel it has burned out.
I now have no real feelings towards the SG's. I would gladly take one if it was given to me, but I couldn't see myself handing over cash for one.. I would definately not get a silverburst though, that finish really doesn't do it for me. It all comes down to: if you like it, you get it. |

I love silverburst because of Adam Jones, Brent Hinds, and Bill Kelliher.
SG's are pretty sexy to me, I'd own one without a doubt if it weren't for the 24.75" scale length and only 22 frets. And I for one cannot stand Epiphone headstocks. I think they ruin it.. (Cannot afford a Gibson or anything ) |

Yeah. It is quite a cool idea though, even though I don't think I'd buy one unless I was loaded. Aren't Gibby ES335s 'laminated' (aka plywood) too though? I suppose it depends on the quality of the woods making the ply.

I love my SG. I'm not that into burst finishes in general and certainly not on an SG.

I have an Epiphone G-400 in faded cherry and I think it is probably the sexiest guitar Ive owned so far. I paid $125 from a private seller that didn't know what they had. It was a steal.
The silver burst is pretty sexy also, but I also happen to agree with the fact that it only has 22 frets. 24 would make it perfect. |

I agree here. I love my SG, and it is just a lowly faded special in cherry. I probably play that guitar more than any other, it really is just right for me, simple, comfortable, and it sounds great.

Old school SG Diablos have 24 frets and MIJ Epis for the local Japanese market have the proper open book headstock. ![]()
