bridge pickup

any bridge pickup reccomendations for a mahogany guitar, I currently have a sd custom 5 but I feel its a little to bright, and maybe a little overwound for what im looking for.ive tried lowering the pickup and I also use pretty thick strings, so I have come to the conclusion its just not for me. what do you guys think? I play stuff like metallica, gnr, megadeth, alice in chains,a7x, motely crue. ect....no limit for price

Lowering the pickup causes it to be brighter, but lose output. So there's that.

I suggest the Custom Custom (SH-11). It's supposed to be warmer due to the A2 magnet.

Since you really can't go for pickups based on one frequency, what's the overall pickup tone you're looking for? What amp are you using (this part is very important too)?

The vengeance should provide enough gain, so output isn't too big a concern. Now, from what I understand, the Custom, custom 5, and custom custom are just about the same idea of a pickup, just with different magnets. So essentially, a custom 5 switched for an A2 magnet should become a custom custom. I'd wait for someone to clarify that though.

yeah from what i've heard they're the same and you can just swap the magnets. Never tried that myself, though, so wait for someone else to walk you through it.

I was also gonna recommend checking out a Custom Custom.

Also look at the Custom/'59 Hybrid.

If you're looking at changing the pickup out instead of swapping the magnet, maybe a Duncan JB would do the trick?

The JB is brighter than the custom 5 according to the Duncan site, so probs not.
