Peavey Ultra Plus won't turn on.

I just bought a Peavey Ultra Plus 120 watt head, didn't get to try it out because there were no preamp tubes. Anyways, I just put tubes in it and tried to fire it up, and nothing happens. No lights come on at all, nothing. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

Check the mains fuse on the back of the chasis (next to the power cord) and look at all the internal fuses also.

What did you pay for it?

I paid $225 for it. There's no fuse on the back of the chassis, so I'm opening it up right now.

EDIT: One of the fuses is completely white, the other two I found are completely clear. Does this mean anything?

the white means it is blown.

Do the clear ones have the filiment in them still?

$225 for an amp you don't know if it works and needs at least $50 in preamp tubes? You got taken. You can score those amps for $250-$300 all day in complete working order.

Now hopefully you have the spare tubes already, but with a blown fuse in the chasis and no preamp tubes, I thinke the guy knew there was something wrong with the amp.

He sold it to me without the tubes because they died. I already have spares so it wasn't an issue. There's 2 fuses that look blown then, would any pictures help?

Go to an electronics store and get the fuses you need. Read carefully what they are and get the exact same type of fuses

I can't figure out how to get these out. It's in some sort of holder similar to one of these, but only for one fuse. http://www.marathonsp.com/Images/R6...Fuse-Holder.gif

They pull straight out. You can get a fuse puller for like $1 at radio shack. You will probably have to go there or another electronics suply store to find your fuses. Your local music store may have what you need also.

The standard for amps is fast blo pay attention to the amp rating. My Sorado is a 3 amp fuse my blackstar is a 1 amp. I imagine you're gonna be closer to 3 amp because of the power possibly more.

I checked inside the amp and it says 5A 250V. Going to get one as soon as I can.

I'm pretty sure you mean slow blow. My amp takes a T-2-AL for 250 volt and a T-4-AL for 110 volt fuses, The AL suffix means it's a slow blow, however regular fuses are just A. When you pull your fuse out check on the metal casing, there should be some form of code like T-2-Al and a voltage written, get whatever is written on the fuse. My guess is that his tubes were on the way out and when they started dying the power draw became too great and blew the fuse.
