Should I hard tail my floyd?
What are the advantages to hard tailing? Would i actually be able to switch tunings with just simply unlocking the nut and adjust the tuning to whatever? I do like using the floyd, but I feel I may be happier with hard tailing it.

You may want to look into a Tremol-no then. It would allow you to completely block off the bridge, set it to only go down, or still have it floating. While it's in the dive-only mode, you can still downtune and use the bar, but as the name suggests, only lower that pitch.
