So long as they don't start doing it to AVRIs or anything stupid like that...

I picked up a 2011 deluxe not too long ago, and they don't have the contour. They used to have them though, so you're partially right - I'm not sure when or why they dropped it as a feature.

I'm all about contours, but I'm a little confused as to why they did it to the standard instead of a special edition? Oh well, I'm still for it.

It was the Only weak point of teles, and they fixed it. Nice!
A forearm countour would be too much though.

Since when do you fingerpick?

I ran out of picks last night.

I do c-c-c-cocaine!

But seriously, Contoured Tele? Jesus. Might as well throw on a tremolo and call it strat.
Actually, I go by Dave, but there are already too many Daves on this forum.

I like both, the lack of contours looks awesome but is kind of brutal sometimes..... I love the classic design but would really like to try the contour body. I am kind of indifferent on this, I guess I want both!

If you want all the original features, buy a reissue model (or any other Telecaster, for that matter). I think it's a pretty useful feature. It doesn't really detract from the tele-ness.

Teles are meant to evolve and the Standard is the model to make the changes on. After all, it sets the "Standard".
