Looking to start a small experimental online project..
Im looking to start a small online project, doing originals, but possibly starting with a few small covers.
My main inflences are Radiohead, John Frusciante, Ataxia, Dot Hacker, Bloc Party, Jonny Greenwood, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Explosions in the Sky., Mogwai etc. I'd call it experimental rock. https://soundcloud.com/beforethebeginning That's an idea of where im at/where im heading. First of all, you'd need some way of recording your playing, converting it to mp3 and sending it, or vice versa. Then i'd add my part, then send it on to the next person, and so on. And at the end of it, hopefully we'd have something to show for it. No matter what instrument you play, if you think you might fancy it, just drop a reply ![]() I look forward to making some music

You'd probably want to use a DAW and get everyone's parts as WAV files. That way you can actually mix everything

I fancy. I've got recording capability, guitars, a DAW.
Caleb, Cucho and I, right here. You've already got Caleb, who's well acquainted with quite a few instruments, and Cucho with his guitar work. Give us a heads up! |

great to hear from you all in such a small period of time :O
to be truthful i wasn't expecting so many replys haha This is looking great. I'm open to all instruments, but as a starting point we'll need.. - Guitar (rhythm and lead) although not limited to 2 guitars having more could get cramped, resulting in a guitarist only having a very small section of a song. - Bass - Drums As an absolute minimum. Any other instruments you feel could create an experimental/ambient vibe . keyboard violin triangle haha theremin I'm open to all ideas Vocals are optional, although my pre-concieved idea is an Ataxia/Dot Hacker sort of vibe. And we'll need somebody with good mixing software and capabilities.

Well, Carl... I'm not entirely familiar with it, but Reaper supposedly is a highly rated DAW that you can download free; you should look into it. (Nevermind. You can only get a trial from it...) The most you could do, is 'download' a DAW, get familiar with it, then buy it when you can make some proper use out of it. Aside from that, there's Podium: http://www.zynewave.com/download.html Not finding much else that isn't all trials 'n bullcrap. Not the best at googling. ;L And about instrumentation! Three guitars sounds dandy, and so does two. Nothing can beat tasty guitar going about in all channels. Guitaw canduh. ![]() Last edited by FistOfMichallin : 02-17-2013 at 12:17 PM. |

Ill do rhythm if you dont already have one. Im not very experienced with other bands and such tho. I've only written broken lead parts to songs, but im willing to try some rhythm.

I'm definitely interested. Can I play bass guitar? I also have a few DAWs (FL Studio, Cubase, and Reaper) and Izotope Ozone 5 if you need someone to mix everything.

That would be brilliant if you could play bass. Also, if you're confident at mixing and such, that would be great, providing you're happy to do so. We'll have to arrange a way for everyone to share ideas quickly (realtime if possible) Skype will be more than enough if you have an account.
