I've never tried bourbon with honey. Sounds like something I'm going to have to throw together tonight

I think I had the jack daniels honey and that was too much. Most premade drinks are. The worst being crown royal maple. It was as if they literally took a bottle of syrup, poured out 1/4th of it, and then filled that bit with whiskey.

All those drinks would probably be great for grilling though.

I drank Jim Beam Red Stag when I lived in the States, sweet, goes down like lemonade. Also great to drink at 10am with coke in Vegas

I had the cinnamon kind once. It wasn't too bad and I was ill at the time so that helped. Tasted like liquid big red. Went good with coffee.

last month purchases:

cleaned out the nikka really quick. wasn't keen on it, so wanted it gone. it's not bad just needs a fair bit of water to be worth while, mostly due to the 51.4% (then again I've had 55% that are nice neat before) which is a bit of a hassle when I prefer drinking neat. also wanted an excuse to go back to the store soon to pick up a glenmorangie quinta ruban (possibly a nectar d'or too)

looking forward to the glendronach. not really tried sherried whisky/speyside (islay + standard highland have been my go to) but it got best of 2014 award from my whisky shop, and a glenfarcas got 2013, so I'm curious what all the fuss is about with sherry casks.

Sherried whisky is awesome. The Lagavulin DE that I got on my birthday was finished in sherry casks.

FYI

If anyone wants to take a chance by following words from a meaningless online forum member, then buy Knob Creek Rye whiskey. I was blown away.

I recently got this, and it's well worth the cash. Really, really smooth, delicate flavour.

Single Cask/Small Batch series...

A Selection of the finest Scottish Single Malt Whisky
The range is made up of carefully selected Single Casks
from Scotland’s legendary distilleries
Some of which are not normally available.

Provenance is Bottled in the traditional style – not coloured, not chill-filtered and typically at 46% strength
I got the Glen Moray 12y/o, but will probably try Aultmore next.

Tried some of this and holy shit. Bursting with flavours. Incredibly strong but every 'side' to whiskey fades in and out with each swing. Loved it.
