don't know if anyone has heard of Zack Arias and his Dedpxl assignments (I'm sure someone has), but I've decided to start doing them and the current topic is eggs. Sooo, time to experiment with my new flash... fine art egg anyone? lol

eggs can be a great subject, maybe if you have a slave or flash cable you can try backlighting one, or some shell pieces.

yeah I took a whole heap of glowing egg photo's too but didn't really like the black/white/orange colour combo and just b&w made it kind of pointless lol. Couldn't get exactly what I was looking for because I've only got the one flash.

going to revisit during the week, but this was my first idea.

^It's as backlit as possible, sun was really low and to the left, usually there is no sun when it's misty so under expose a bit I guess then. Also to show depth somehow, shoot with a long lens covering a lot of distance

I've always wanted to try taking photos of lightning.

Anyway, just did egg concept #2, reasonably happy with it.

mmm, needs some salt and pepper. very hard light, using an off camera flash or did you just rotate it 90˚?

My off camera flash cable is probably the most useful accessory I have, even if it won't work TTL

off camera, shot through a diffuser from a 5-in-1 reflector. The main reason the shadow is so crisp is because the red thing I used is HIGHLY glossy, which created its own set of problems.

went for a bit of a photo walk with a mate today.

technically it was an hour drive and then a walk

^^thanks Dave, one thing I feel like is worth mentioning is that this article I think has helped my photography more than anything in the past few months.

the moral of the story is don't be afraid to snap away and cull heavily later lol.
