I've only read Philip Roth from all those so he should therefore win

You should take a gander at DeLillo and Didion.

To be honest, I always thought Murakami was a YA author

I even have one of his books in my house

Cheer brah. If we were to follow the Nobel prizes precedent of picking unknown authors from relatively destitute conditions, I don't think a North American would win it this year. Plus, Alice Munro won last year.

Kundera has a alright chance though. They've been tipping Ngugi to win for years and I haven't a clue why

Just picked up and finished Fahrenheit 451 just so I could claim that I have read it. It was actually quite great, but it moved a bit fast for my personal taste. I really couldn't visualize some of the things in the book in my head simply because there was so little on them. That being said, I loved it. A great 150 pages.

Also, Life of Pi is amazing. However, I wish I could just believe what the author wrote. No spoilers, that's all I'll say

I'm reading Science Fiction Philosophy: From Time Travel to Super Intelligence for a class.

It's pretty rough. I'm bad at philosophy.
