^The only reason I woud rather rip than download is the often multilngual option..so many times I wanted to watch a downloaded film with friends and it's only in English. And I want to watch them by myself and they're in Italian...

Good point. It is kinda hard to find a good rip with all the data attached to it as well.

Only, I heard that DVD Decryptor doesn't work so well anymore..

You could try making an iso file from the DVD. I think Imgburn can do it. Basically what you're doing is creating a fully digital version of the DVD. Then you can use a program like Daemon Tools to mount the .iso (basically, it get's treated like a physical DVD by the OS), and "play" them just like a normal DVD. I think VLC can even read .iso files without needing to mount them first.

I just got my new laptop today. It's a Lenovo Ideapad Z710. For some reason, whenever the screen is tilted too far back, the screen and keys go black. Once I tilt the screen forward again and click or press a button, I'm greeted by my lock screen. Should I be sending this back? I have a 2-year warranty.

Quick Q for you guys

When looking for laptops to do some light to medium non professional music recording and editing, what are the minimum specs I should look for?

So far I've got:

4 gigs of ram instead of the usual 2
at least 500 gig HD
i5 processor
...?

Does processor speed matter more than model? For instance, would a 2.6ghz i5, or a 2.3 i7 be better?
And what about cores? is a 2.0ghz quad core i7 better than a 3.0ghz dual core i5?

Generally speaking, yeah, more cores and more RAM = better for music creation. If given the option, go for a quad core over a dual if your plan is to use your machine to make music.

4 GB of RAM should be fine unless you're planning to go bonkers with your plugins, but more can't hurt. I wouldn't go lower than 4 at all though. I wouldn't trust Windows to run well on anything less than that.

Okay thanks.

So my minimum requirements are
4 gigs of ram
Dual core 2.5Ghz or more cores
500gb hd

Anything else? Also is 500gb of hd space the minimum, or just a good option?

I'd go with 8GB of Ram. And 3.0Ghz processor with 4 cores. 4GB of RAM and dual core is pretty out of date.

Any good IMG burn users here?

This is what I need:

I've been looking for a good program to burn mp3 cd's for my girlfriends car.

The best I've found so far are Burnaware and IMG burn, but there's something missing.

Can anyone tell me how to change the parameters in img burn, so basically I'm making an mp3 cd for a car, but before burning the files, it's converting them to, say, 128bits or 160, instead of leaving them as they are?

Basically, I don't mnd much about the quality in the car, I just want to put as many as possible.

I remember using a software that did this, I just can't remember which one.

IMG burn has loads of options, and I can't find a good onine guide, so anyone who's good at doing this, please help.
