Can Anyone Identify the Guitar Maker Al D. Is Playing Here?
Hey Guys, Can anyone identify the guitar brand that Al Di Meola is playing here? The headstock is pretty distinct, nothing with which I'm familiar. Thanks! |

There's a good possibility it's a random one off custom made by some luthier somewhere.

ADM uses a lot of high end guitars from a variety of makers, like Guilds, Martins, PRS, etc., but I can't ID that as being one from his known affiliations. It prabably is a luthier's work.

I'm pretty sure it's a small luthier shop somewhere, but I still think it might be somewhat renowned.

I actually think it looks a little like an older Giffin, but can't be sure.

It might be, it might not. But we can't see the writing on the headstock, and sifting through images on the web...
Lets just say I personally have about 300 guitar manufacturer/luthier websites bookmarked, and I can't come up with that sust based on what I've seen in the video. I'd have to go from site to site...

Means nothing, really, but Giffin mostly uses 3 + 3 headstocks, and ADM isn't on their client list.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I knew it was a long shot. I guess short of asking Al himself, I'll let it remain a mystery.

Wow, I think that might be it! At least the headstock comes very close. I'll look into it more.

Yeah, I think that's it: Starfield. So instead of it being a virtually unobtainable small, on-off luthier, it's a now defunct Ibanez sister company. So, um, does anyone know where Starfields can be bought?
