amp problem, any ideas?

hey guys, my amp, a spider IV 75, just started making this really weird high pitched noise. I was playing on the insane setting and all of a sudden it just started making that sound. I tried first playing a few chords, but they didn't make the sound change, and I then unplugged everything from the amp and it continued making the noise. It was just this really loud, high pitched, unwavering buzzing noise. any ideas on what happened?

.. also I've had this amp for years and never had any problems with it

Have you tried to unplug it? Next would be a reset. Google how to reset spyder "x".

Some guys have had luck with that.

The noise doesn't change when you wiggle the input jack does it?

Try setting it to factory test. I think you have to hold down the tap/tuner button while turning it on. Leave it like that a bit and then turn it off then on again.

Unless you left it on stuffed in a small shelf with no air flow for a few hours it overheated on its own.

Sounds like you are in the market for a new amp.
