Well... He's playing fast.
1:55 fast picking and then he starts tapping fast. 2:41 fast picking 4:29 sweep picking 8:32 again fast picking (I'm not sure if he picks every note) 8:55 tapping If you don't know these techniques, there's no way you will be able to play them even if we sent you the tabs. And even if you learned the techniques, you would need a lot more practice to be able to play that fast.

youre telling me the obvious. i want to know what hes doing so i can practice it. specifically. the runs at 8:22. what shapes are those? looks like maybe a diminished chord stretched beyond normal hand ability.
i want to know what buckethead is thinkwhen he is playing this stuff. when i go to do improv, i think of the chords, they key notes in a specific chord prog, but i cant improv shred stuff like this. knowing all of your modes is one thing, being able to work them into extremely cool licks like buckethead is doing is another. so id love to know what hes doing so i can replicate something similar myself.

this is what i think hes doing around 8:22
e-------------------------------------------------7-10-11-14-13-16-17-20- b-----------------------------------6-9-10-13- g-----------------------4-7-8-11- d-----------3-6-7-10- a-2-5-6-9- you write out the half whole version of the diminished scale and skip the half, and go whole from there, then half, then skip the whole and play the next half. but that is crazy hard to actually play. that stretch is incredible. i want to learn all those licks to have something fun to practice.

You tabbed it out. You're clearly capable of processing this music. What's stopping you from learning it? ![]() |
