I think it's right that they were out and they're good if you like them under your hands.

I use dunlop pink tortex, 1,14mm thick, and I buy a couple every 4 months or so.
I don't play that much though, say 5 hours a week, some weeks 3.

Though picks are fairly cheap, so by any means try everything that you can find and then decide what you like best based on what you liked using.

You could wire the thing up as you described, but you'd pass through two pre's (which would mean two tone stacks, which would mean very little mids) and no reverb - it's after the pre, yeah.

To use that reverb you would have to connect the ibanez' fx send to the fender's fx return and use the fender's power amp.

The reverb is before the FX send.
