NGD! High gain Randall content within...

So here is my new Randall Diavlo series 100 watt head that arrived this morning, it's part of Randall Amplifiers recent reboot since they got metal amp modder and guru Mike Fortin of Fortin Amplification as there new designer.
Knowing the man behind the Meathead, Natas and other killer metal amps was behind this amp was a real big selling point for me.
Came loaded with 12 AX7 preamp tubes and 6L6 power tubes

Was looking to upgrade from my current Kustom Quad 100 HD and I was really intrigued by these new Randalls after seeing and hearing a few demos, luckily I managed to find one!
These new amps seem to be really elusive to find...at least here in the UK, I had to buy this from those wonderful Germans at Thomann.de, thankfully it was free shipping.

It's a really clear and precise amp, the clarity is great even when, like me, you love to see how it sounds with the Gain on full.
Doesn't do great a low volumes but that's a given with most valve/tube amps, however cranked up, this thing will rip your head off.
This amp seems to be the more versatile one out of the new Randalls like the Thrasher and Ola Englund's Satan.
While those at least are meant primarily for tight metal riffing, the RD100 does that while also being able to back off and deal out some nice rock tones.

It's got 3 channels, Clean, Gain 1 and Gain 2. It also has a Boost button to give it some extra kick if you need it.
I'm using in the typical fashion with Gain 1 as the rhythm tone and Gain 2 as my lead tone with the boost on both or just 2 depending on what i'm playing.
One of my only disappointments with this head is that they all share the same EQ and i'd like a bigger range on the bass EQ.
It almost feels like to me i'm not getting enough to compensate for the amount of mid-range and highs this amp produces.

Currently running it through a Kustom 412GT loaded with 12" Celestions. However it's smaller than most 4x12's, I'd love to run this head through a Mesa Oversized Recto 4x12.
However since i'm looking to down size at the moment i'm looking at getting a Zilla Fatboy 2x12 with V30's in it.

Overall i'm stoked with this amp though. This is one of those heads that really needs to get cranked up loud at which point I assume the bass frequencies will pop out more.
Once I get the chance to loan an SM57 from my university, i'll make a demo since there aren't many out there of this amp.

But yeah, my new Randall Diavlo RD100, awesome amp, definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a metal amp who isn't quite willing to drop 1000+

I am GASsing for one so bad...

Though the bass thing came as bit of surprise. Every Randall I've heard so far (granted they were the solid states) had potential for thunderous amount of bass. Either their tubes aim for different sound or this is one of Fortins touches, propably to keep things tight?

Happy NAD!

Sweet, really like the looks of Randall's stuff these days, though I am skeptical due to previous experiences.

Care to elucidate? I'm considering getting an MTS.

Brother has an RM50. It's been great for a number of years.

Very nice. Fortin's got great ears for gain tones.

The MTS stuff is great, no need to worry there, a local shop has them and they are sweet. The lower end Randall tube stuff is what I have had disappointing experiences with. The RT/RGT are the ones that were pretty lousy, I owned the RGT and it was a piece of junk, spent more time working on it than playing it.

I also didn't like the Nuno Bettencourt sig. It just never sounded quite right, always too much of something.
