I say you take the Ice-man with the pickup swap for now, until you know that a custom 7 is what you need. It's suck if you dropped nearly 2 grand on a 7 just to find out that you don't need a second 7. Plus, no build time. That's always a plus.

I think the Kelliher sigs so far have been pretty good. Bill's a huge stickler for guitar quality and a total gearhead.

Yeah that's hat I was thinking. My local Guitar Center has one on sale for $650 (as opposed to $800) because it hasn't moved in like a year. Plus I might be able to take a little more off because I'm an ex employee.

I hate that I didn't get one of his Golden Axe explorers.

You could buy a gold/sunburst explorer, drop a set of Nitro Hemis or Dissonant Aggressors in it, flip the controls around a little and have essentially the same thing

I agree with ThePIGI_King, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a custom unless you're absolutely sure.

Been looking at guitars to get once I find a new job so I can start playing again. Pretty set on this one unless there's a price hike in the next few months. I was thinking an 8 string but then decided on a 7 so I can still play higher tuned stuff without having to worry about an extra string to have to mute.

Still not entirely sure if I should get the 28" though. I'd mostly be playing in drop A and G. But it would be nice to be able to get it set up for some 8 string tuning if I wanted to. The 8 strings I was looking at were just their cheaper 27" models. I can't do shredy leads so the I can't see the scale length being too much of a hassle paying wise.

A 28" scale is pretty long, but I doubt it will be a gigantic issue unless you are doing runs in the first 5 frets, and even at that it will barely be noticeable if you're used to a 27" scale.

Also, update on my situation, pulling the trigger on a guitar tonight. But it sure as hell ain't no 7 string Iceman . Much much more stoner metal. Expect a NGD in the next week.

Edit: ^ Never mind that. Deal fell through Was gonna buy a lawsuit era Ibanez LP but it just had too many issues.
